Description: The outward curving jaws of the snipe eel do not close properly, so how does it feed? By swimming through the deep ocean with its mouth open! Prey, mainly crustaceans, get snagged on the numerous tiny backward-pointing teeth and are then 'ratcheted' into the mouth.
