:: The Giant Squid Photography Project

DeepSeaPhotography.Com staff and project partners (MetOcean Solutions Ltd and H.E. Perry Ltd) are currently in the process of developing and testing a deep-sea camera system (DeepCam) capable of descending to 3,000 m (10,000 feet). The digital system will be used for seafloor and water column deployments with the goal of creating some of the best portraits of deep-sea life ever taken in-situ.

We have a special interest in photographing the giant squid (Architeuthis dux) and its large relatives, and we will be deploying the system in New Zealand waters in 2006 as part of a proposed series of giant squid-focused expeditions.
